Fresh, Fun Spring Activities

Fresh, Fun Spring Activities

Spring offers a wealth of opportunities to get outside and learn life lessons from the great outdoors. If you work with young children, you know that it also provides a chance to burn a little energy and refocus for the day. Here are a few outdoor activities you can enjoy with your preschool class this spring:

Build a Garden Investing the time and money into a small school garden is a great way to teach your toddlers about spring and the new life it sprouts. This process will stimulate curiosity and anticipation for class each day. It will also leave your class with a sense of accomplishment as the plants begin to grow and they reap the rewards of their hard work.

Play with Bubbles Bubbles are always a favorite pastime. This fun outdoor activity will be a project your preschoolers will love. You can make a bubble concoction from dish-washing soap and warm water. If you want to produce extremely large bubbles, hop over to your local pharmacy and purchase some glycerine. A tablespoon or two of this secret ingredient will make for a fun bubble competition!

Birdhouse Design You can welcome the birds with the design of a pretty class birdhouse. Your local hardware store will offer houses that are already constructed and ready to go. You can choose one that will allow your class to add their creative spin through paint or drawing. Then, place your feeder right by your window and enjoy the fun that follows!

Design a Nature Collage You can inspire learning and creativity through the design of a nature collage. Develop a list of outdoor items your class must find. Popular items include a leaf, rock, dandelion, and other miscellaneous nature items that can be easily found on the school's property. Provide paper, glue and tape and have your class put together a collage with their findings. This is a great way to get your kids outdoors and exploring all spring has to offer!

These are just a few of the many fun projects you can employ for your class this spring. Your kids will enjoy the opportunity to get outdoors and explore the changing seasons!
