Utilize a Storage System

Whether your classroom has shelves or you need to create a cubby or bin system, find something that doesn't require you to stack boxes on top of boxes. Bins of similar size and shape work best because they can easily be rearranged so you always have the current season's necessities in the forefront. Plus, this way you can always clearly see the face of every container and what it contains.

If it's something the kids use such as supplies, make sure to keep it at their level.

Get the Students Involved

It can be difficult to make cleaning fun for kids, but it's possible.

Label your bins with photos, rather than words, to make sure children know where things belong. Then, make a game of it. Allow a few kids to push around a cart to collect art supplies. Give kids a timer to see how long it takes to put crayons back in their box. Let them see having to keep their space clean isn't a punishment.

Try to keep a routine as well. After you go outside have all the kids hang their coats on their peg before sitting down, for example. This way they can make a habit of keeping the room organized.

Give Each Student an Assigned Number

Use a number system for everything. Add their numbers to papers they may use before handing them out. Add numbers to any supplies of their own or anything they do not share. This way, if you are having trouble finding something, you can easily put things in numerical order and see quickly whose things are missing.
